How these quizzes work

Both quizzes run eight rounds and draw from the same pool of 195 games, spanning releases from 1994 to 2022 across twelve genres. Questions are built at play time rather than written by hand, so the answers come from the same sourced data the rest of the site runs on and there is no separate trivia file to fall out of date.

The wrong answers are not random noise either. They are pulled from other real values in the pool, which is why a question can be genuinely hard: every option in front of you is a real release year, or a real genre that some game in the set actually has.

No signup, no daily limit, and no streak to lose. Every run reshuffles, so replaying is not the same eight questions in a different order.

Which one to play

Question data comes from RAWG.io via scripts/fetch-similar.py, stored in src/data/similar-games.json. We have not independently verified every row — if a year or genre looks wrong, RAWG is where to check it.
